“The functionalism of this house is not structural expressionism but a spatial expression of function. This appears externally and internally with the intention of making the building an integrated expression of its place, its function and its form.

Underpinning this desire is Crosby’s continuing interest in buildings that respond to their environmental context. Correct orientation for climate control and the best advantage of views are often intertwined in Crosby’s work, creating complex forms that are not immediately recognisable as a result of the determinants.

This house is less complex than some of Crosby’s other work but continues to incorporate his interest in the articulation of environmental factors, space and functional planning.”
