5 storey apartment building with row housing
The initial design for this project was as studio apartments with a ramped courtyard situated over a car park. Under instructions from the client/builder, however, it was reworked to become a slab block facing Chapel Street with a row of terraces on the rear lane. Parking was on grade, which raised the building and led to reduced street activity. To address this one building’s corners were stepped down and a retail component was introduced.
